Summit Contracting Group is building an expansion and renovation for Baxter E. Luther Boys & Girls Club, formally known as the Woodland Acres Boys & Girls Club. The expansion will accommodate more programs and allow access for more children and teens. The construction will add to the existing structures to include new areas for sports, arts, and learning spaces.
“We received a great response from our construction partners resulting in support covering nearly half the cost of the project,” says Nicole Padgett, Summit’s CAO. “The programs offered through the Boys and Girls Clubs are important for the kids who are Jacksonville’s future. We can’t imagine a better way to let them know the community cares about them, than to help improve the facilities where they learn and play sports, and become part of the community as well. We are honored to work with them, and look forward to the completed expansion!”
“This expansion will help change the lives of an additional 100-150 children and teens,” says Paul Martinez, CEO/President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. “Thank you to our partners who made this historic project possible: Phyllis Arnold and family, Paul and Caren Felker and family, Sally Lott and family, Summit Contracting Group, Deerwood Rotary Club, Arlington Rotary Club, and PQH Group. Your support, insight, and vision have helped make this renovation and expansion a reality!”
Baxter E. Luther Boys & Girls Club renovation and expansion includes enclosing an existing 6,000 SF basketball court into a multi-use gymnasium; a 1,020 SF addition to the gymnasium to include an office, restrooms and mechanical room; a 2,000 SF expansion of the recreation building to include classroom, computer room, arts and crafts room, circulation room and restroom; upgraded parking area, sidewalk and a new entry gate.
