JACKSONVILLE, FL: Summit Contracting Group, has broken ground and has started on the site work and utilities for the much-anticipated construction on Southbank Urban Residences.
“We are proud to have so many exciting and challenging projects right here in our home city. As we add more residences to Jacksonville, it draws more opportunity for retail and businesses to flourish,” says Summit’s CEO, Marc Padgett.
Under construction is an eight-story luxury apartment community within the confines of a 2.9 acre site bordered by the St. Johns River, Florida East Coast Railway lines that cross the river, an active 23 story high rise office tower, and Prudential Drive on the Southbank of Downtown Jacksonville, FL.
“Logistics and working well with the neighbors is the key to success in a project such as this one,” says Zach Graham, division manager at Summit. “We have been undertaking careful planning for the better part of a year in preparation for this project, and have conducted multiple meetings with all the surrounding stake holders to assure that things go smoothly.”
Now underway is the utility work, site work and ground improvements. Summit is looking forward to the arrival of a tower crane and concrete contractor in just a few weeks. They have partnered with Universal Forming, Inc. from Orlando on this project for the four levels of elevated concrete structure and expect great success with them.
Southbank Urban Residences will consist of 185 units in one high-density eight story building with concrete podium and wood frame construction. The community will offer studio, one, two, and three bedroom living options. Future residents will enjoy a secure access parking garage, swimming pool on the fourth level overlooking the river, clubroom with lounge areas, fitness center, dog walk area, mail and package center, game room, and direct access to the Riverwalk. Construction is planned to be completed in early 2022. The developer is Ventures Development Group, and the architect is Niles Bolton Associates.
In Jacksonville, Summit is the general contractor for seven multifamily projects currently under construction: Southbank Urban Residences, The Reserve at Oakleaf, Volaris West Kernan, The Menlo (apartments at eTown), Fusion, Lofts at Brooklyn, and The Waves.
