Summit Contracting Group, Inc. is the newest sponsorship partner of The Fire Watch – Florida’s dedicated effort to prevent veteran suicide. Summit donated $10,000 to The Fire Watch, as a commitment to keep the program’s awareness training accessible for the public, and to continue to save the lives of veterans.
“We are a construction company that employs many veterans, and here we find ourselves at the convergence of two populations of people in the U.S. with a higher rate of death by suicide. That is why we decided to make a commitment to The Fire Watch, to do more, raise awareness, and be there for veterans.”
The Fire Watch is a Florida-based non-profit organization that was established in 2019. The organization is building a life-saving network of community members and organizations trained to identify the warning signs of crisis and to direct those veterans to the help they need. Modeled after the approach of CPR training (the more we can train, the more we save), this effort is the first of its kind in the country.
“The Watch Stander Program has strong data that the program is working, and the team at Summit Contracting Group is honored to help.”
The Watch Stander Program mobilizes community members to be vigilant of veterans’ concerns and direct them to the support they need. The goal is simple but powerful – to prevent veteran suicide through community connections.
